Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Rochester is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Trying different coffees when we travel is just one of our things. We mapped our way to Canaltown Coffee Roasters on the hunt for whole bean coffees last Friday… and found ourselves stepping back in time. The wonderful aroma of roasted coffee and their wall of antique bean dispensers immediately drew us in. Their shop has that β€œwarm and inviting” vibe that intrigues the senses. We opted for their Canaltown Dark Roast and Sumatran whole bean coffees in 1/2 lb. bags. Both proved to be aromatic, flavorful and delicious. Pure coffee decadence and highly recommended!

Was in for a cup of coffee had a mixture of hazelnut and dark roast. This was the most delicious cup of coffee that I’ve had in the city ever!! I will definitely be back. It was fresh and hot and delicious. Check them out!

My passion for coffee shops is still alive and kicking and Canaltown Coffee Roasters didn’t dampen that passion. It’s nice to visit a real coffee roaster’s. Val was fantastic. For my partner Val recommended a Cuban Double Espresso and that Plant Milk was the best alternative for the Apple Dirty Chai. He thoroughly enjoyed his drinks. I ordered the Caramel Spice Latte and it was delicious. The service was good. There is plenty of seating indoors and a few tables outside. Loved the cute fresh flower arrangements on the tables. A very chilled out cafe with friends chatting away and people working quietly on laptops. There is plenty of parking.

Smells great inside; so many flavors of freshly roasted beans. The oat milk latte was pretty good, and I appreciated that there’s plenty of seating plus free WiFi. Italian biscotti was good too. Sadly the syrups used for coffee flavors are artificial, so I didn’t get a flavor. But coffee is good!

This place oozes old school cool with a wall of vintage bean dispensers right as you walk in! The baristas are friendly and made me one of the best lattes I've ever had! Really looking forward to going back for beans and another latte next time I'm in the city.
